Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Sarah Chambers

As a former student of Oakman Elementary and graduate of Oakman High School, I am proud to be a Wildcat!  I graduated from OHS in 1991 and continued my education at Walker College, The University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, and The University of West Alabama.  Through these institutions, I have earned Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Educational Specialist degrees in the areas of Early Childhood and Elementary Education, and School Counseling.  Along the way I have been blessed with a wonderful, supportive husband, Gary, and three beautiful children, Olivia, Camden, & Ansley.

I have worked with children in some capacity for more than 25 years. I taught pre-school for six years at Carl Hare Child Development Center in Jasper, AL, 4th grade at Sipsey Jr. High School, and 1st and 5th grades at Oakman before becoming the school counselor. My experience has been with children ages 2-15. This is my 7th year as the School Counselor at Oakman Middle School.

Most of my time is spent working with students in a preventive manner. This is accomplished through classroom guidance lessons. Small group counseling is offered as needs arise. I am available to respond to individual student problems any time. My office hours are Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.
